These activities combine two of our favorite things: crafts and children’s books. What could be more fun than making your favorite book come to life?
We have so many fun crafts shared here and the number is growing every day. I’m sure that at least one of your little ones favorites is on the list!
1. This art project that uses cotton balls instead of a paint brush, was inspired by one of our favorite Eric Carle books, Little Cloud.
2. Use a toilet paper roll to make your own caterpillar necklace, inspired by The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
3. Learn about metamorphosis and how a caterpillar turns into a butterfly with this craft inspired by Far Flutterby.
4. Inspired by the illustrations from the book Knuffle Bunny, this craft combines photography and art.
5. To help understand the changing seasons, this craft inspired by The Season’s of Arnold’s Apple Tree, lets kids make four trees to show how they look during each season.
6. Create the colorful look of Tim Hopgood’s illustrations in the book Here Comes Frankie by using wax resist painting, tissue paper and magazine clippings.
7. Make flip flip puppets to go along with one of our favorite Dr. Seuss books, The Foot Book.
8. We love the message behind the book My Purple Toes and this colorful craft that goes along with it.
9. Here’s another Very Hungry Caterpillar craft – make your own caterpillar mask! This would be fun for Halloween as well as an afternoon of pretend play.
10. Use your handprints and footprints to make red lobsters like the one in the book, Lobsters On The Loose.
