My kitchen sink has been looking so dingy. I’ve cleaned it, sure, but it was really in need of a deep scrub and I didn’t want to relay only on elbow grease to make it shine again. I noticed how many tiny stains were starting to accumulate but I didn’t have anything on hand besides regular kitchen cleaner. So I made my only sink scrub and it worked really well, plus it made my kitchen smell great. Here is how I did it.
Kitchen Sink Scrub
- 1/2 cup of Borax (helps remove rust)
- 1/4 cup of water
- splash of vinegar (helps remove grime)
- sprinkle of epson salt (optional, but makes it a bit more abrasive for stubborn stains)
- 10 drops of lemon essential oil (makes it shiny)
The Epoch Lemon is really pure and the smell will fill your whole house with a fresh scent. (Here are a bunch of other ways we use lemon to clean at home.)
Stir the mixture together in a bowl – it may be a bit soupy but that’s ok, it does not need to be pretty! Just drop spoonfuls into the sink and start scrubbing with a damp rag.
The awesome thing about this is that a) you can whip it up with just a few ingredients from home in just a minute or two and b) it works so well that you don’t have to spend forever scrubbing the sink with all your might. Plus, we love anything that doesn’t have lots of chemicals in it.
I did not realize just how dirty that sink was looking before I did this! I was obviously in desperate need and this simple DIY did just the trick.
