Today’s guest post from Francis is a great way to capture special moments during the year!
With so many drawings, crafts, trips, and outings, it’s nice to have somewhere to keep those memories alive. We love to upcycle, so when I had a shoebox headed for the recycling bin, we make a Box of Memories!
And… it’s never too late to make one! You could even make a “summer camp” box, or a “school year” box. Anything that sparks your child’s interest!
This activity is simple and so much fun! Your child can decorate as little or as much as they want, with whatever craft supply you have at home. Every Box of Memories is unique!
Here is a list of the most used craft supplies to keep handy at your home.
In this activity, we used a shoebox, but you can use any cardboard box and go as big as you like!
Melissa decided she wanted to cover the lid of the box with tissue paper in the colors she liked best. She tore the tissue paper in different sized pieces and glued them with PVA glue (or you could use school glue [affiliate link]).
Next, I suggested using some paint and she chose blue and yellow for the rest of the box. She even painted the inside!
She added some decorations on the lid and stamped her name on the inside of the lid.
I wanted to show the year somewhere on the box, so we used buttons to form the numbers of the year. I drew the numbers and she glued the buttons in place.
This turned out to be a great tracing practice for her!
