It is actually really easy to make your own pickles — you don’t even need a ton of canning supplies.
When I learned this super-simple method for making dill pickles in a refrigerator, I was so excited at the possibility!
Make Your Own Pickles
Here’s what you need to Make Your Own Pickles:
- Mini Cucumbers (or use regular ones and slice them!)
- Mason Jars
- Fresh Dill
- Chopped Garlic
- 3 cups Water
- 6 tbsp. White vinegar
- 3 tbsp. Kosher salt
Mix together the water, vinegar and kosher salt to create a brine. The salt should be completely dissolved.
Add a few sprigs of fresh dill into the bottom of a jar, then add in the cucumbers. If you sliced the cucumbers, just fill the jar half-way, then add another layer of dill.
Fill up the jar with cucumbers, and add some more dill on top, along with some minced garlic. Pour the brine over the top of the spices and cucumbers, filling the jar.
Place in the refrigerator for at least two days to chill.
These taste really good on their own, or you could add them to my favorite potato salad recipe.
