I love ice cream.
I really love ice cream.
I thought it would be fun to create a play dough recipe that smells like ice cream. I had visions of scoop-like balls of play dough covered with colored dough sprinkles. It was all very cute and ice cream parlor-ish in my mind.
To make the dough smell like ice cream, I am using Cold Stone Creamery International Delight Coffee Creamers. They have three new smells {I mean flavors}, Hot for Cookie, Founder’s Favorite and Churro Caramel. Oh my! I need a cup of coffee right now just thinking about those.
I modified one of our favorite play dough recipes:
- 1 part Cold Stone Creamery International Delight Creamer of your choice
- 2 parts corn starch
Mix the ingredients together with a wooden spoon until it is a thick consistency. It smells all yummy and ice creamy.
I pulled out the dough to start making ice cream parlor accessories when something magical occurred…
The dough melted into the kitchen counter!
I picked it back up and found that it felt solid and could be molded in my hand and squeezed, but the minute I set it down it would become a puddle.
It looked and smelled like melted ice cream.
It is really one of the craziest things we have made at home and my boys had a ball investigating this crazy concoction that reacts to pressure with resistance, but melts away when set down.
It is a great afternoon activity made from two ingredients you will have on hand.
My faux ice cream parlor didn’t pan out as expected, but we had a ton of fun!
