A week of Christmas activities to do with the kids!
Just to give you a little background on how I plan a week of activities for my own kids:
I start with the gauging what my child is interested in (using the “My Child This Week” sheet of the free weekly planner). I fill one out for each of my kids and what they’re into at the moment. I use this as my guide to plan our activities accordingly.
With each of my kids’ interests, I brainstorm 7 activities to do that week. I jot them down on the simple ‘Activities To Do This Week’ planner.
As for this week of Christmas activities, it could easily be a week of Christmas crafts for kids. But crafting isn’t for everyone, all the time (especially my kids). This week of Christmas activities includes a couple crafts, an art project, and an activity (or two!) to do.
And of course, like always, I include a day of family time. I think the kids will especially love this family activity!
A week of Christmas activities to do with young kids.
Monday’s Christmas Craft:
Trace a large circle (use a plate) onto a green piece of cardstock. Draw, and cut, a spiral from the outside of the circle to the center. Lay flat and decorate with sequins, glitter and a star in the center! Punch a hole in the center and tie a string to hang it up! (See details of our Spiral Christmas Tree Craft.)
Supplies: green cardstock, pencil, scissors, glue, glitter, sequins
Tuesday’s Christmas Activity:
Hide gift bows around the house in secret spots. Towards the evening, or draw the shades, hand them flash lights to look for all the hidden gift bows. (See details of our Christmas scavenger hunt.)
Supplies: flashlights, gift bows
Wednesday’s Christmas Gift Craft:
Fold cardstock to make a card. On front, make thumbprints dipped in green paint in a circle to form a wreath. Make little ‘pinkie’-prints dipped in red paint to add berries on wreath. Draw a bow on bottom of wreath. Write message inside to complete card. (See details of our fingerprint wreath card.)
Supplies: green paint, white cardstock, red paint or red ribbon
Thursday’s Christmas Tradition:
Cut enough strips of paper (1 1/2” to 2” wide) for every day until Christmas. Write an activity, tradition, craft, memories to do, or make for the holidays, on each one of the strips. Tape ends together, and link together making a chain. Take one off and do that activity each day until Christmas! (See details of our Christmas chain countdown.)
Supplies: construction paper / cardstock, marker, tape or staples/stapler
Friday’s Christmas Art Project:
Cut a Christmas tree out of green cardstock. Dip plastic lid into paint and stamp onto Christmas tree to decorate with ornaments. (See details of our Christmas tree art project.)
Supplies: green cardstock, plastic lid, paint
Saturday’s Christmas Craft:
Decorate craft sticks with glue and glitter as desired. Glue craft sticks across each other to form a snowflake. Attach string with hot glue to hang as an ornament. (See details of our snowflake ornament.)
Supplies: 3 or 4 craft sticks, glue, glitter, hot glue / glue gun
Sunday’s Family Christmas Activity:
Write letters to Santa! Tell him the fun you’ve been having and how excited you are.
