Bottled Fairy Dust Necklaces: A Tween Craft Idea

Kids Activities Blog http://ift.tt/1OvxlJR fairy necklaces2

Do you have a kiddo who has a love for all things sparkly?  Our kids have recently discovered Dr. Who and have become obsessed with all things weebly wobbly, sonic screwdrivers and Time Lords.  We recently created giant galaxy jars.

Today, the kids created fairy dust necklaces, or bottled up stars.  My older tween calls this her Galaxy Necklace, and my elementary aged kiddo calls it her fairy dust!  Either way, these are fun, easy to make and sure to bring a smile!

Supplies You will Need:

Small Glass Bottles.  We got ours here (affiliate).  They are just adorable!

Glitter and Sequins.  To simulate a night sky we had tiny purple stars that we added to our tiny jars.

Cotton.  And it has to be actual cotton, not the synthetic stuff.

Tweezers.

Food Dye.  Make it colorful!  Everything is better in color!

Essential Oils.  As the jars are capped with cork lids, they work great as essential oil necklace  diffusers.  The scents diffuse through the cap throughout the day.

Using the tweezers dip the bits of cotton into the bowl of dye and then insert it into your jar.

How to Make Your Fairy Necklace

Layer the cotton colors with glitter and plain white cotton bits.  Add several drops of oil to the top of your jar before you put the cap on it.

Viola!  A necklace that smells great, looks good and will be the talk of the class!
