Have you ever tried making your own homemade coconut oil body butter? Once you do, you won’t use any other body butter! The great thing about this is that you can use any essential oil to make it the fragrance you love!
During the winter months, I use peppermint in my body butter because I love everything peppermint but once it starts to warm up and summer starts to show it’s beautiful sunny head, I switch to using either lavender or lemon essential oil.
All of these scents make an amazing body butter that’s creamy and leaves your legs moisturized and smooth!
How to Make Coconut Oil Body Butter
Supplies You Need
- 1 Cup Shea Butter (I bought on Amazon)
- 1/2 Cup Coconut Oil
- 8 Drops Your Favorite Essential Oil
- Mason Jars
Instructions
Step 1 – Combine all ingredients in a double boiler
Step 2 – Heat until everything is melted
Step 3 – Place in the refrigerator and let cool for an hour
Step 4 – When the mixture is starting to solidify around the edges, place in your stand mixer and mix on high. It should start forming into a whip cream type consistency in about 5 minutes.
Store the Body Butter in a glass container for up to six months.
The first time I made this I thought it looked way too delicious to rub on my legs, I mean it does kind of look like whip cream! But I promise it doesn’t taste like it and it’s certainly not as sticky! It’s a true body butter that works like magic on your dry skin!
What types of beauty products do you make yourself instead of buying from the store? This body butter along with DIY Lip Gloss are my favorites to make! They’re so easy and I typically have all the supplies on hand so I can whip them together in no time!
