Are you looking for how to get rid of yard pests naturally? Although certain insects have a place in our backyard and may be harmless, others are a huge annoyance that we just want to get rid of. Others, like ticks, are even dangerous in their ability to cause Lyme disease.
If you’re looking for a way to eliminate pests, you might not be sure how to get rid of them. Insecticides often contain chemicals that may be harmful if they’re consumed by pets or small children. Fortunately, there are a number of alternatives. Here are some natural ways to get rid of yard pests.
Get Rid of Yard Pests Naturally
Peppermint
Did you know that many insects hate peppermint? Ants, beetles, caterpillars, mosquitos, moths, and spiders are some of the pests that can be driven away with peppermint. There are several ways to ward off pests with peppermint. You can either put out some peppermint leaves or spray some diluted peppermint essential oil in the area you’re trying to keep pest-free!
Oranges
If you’re looking to wipe out an entire ant colony, then look no further! Oranges are one of the best ways to kill ants. There are two ways you can take advantage of this fruit’s powerful ant killing properties. You can either spray some diluted orange essential oil on the ant hills you’re trying to eliminate or around your house to prevent them from entering your home. Another option is to blend some orange peels and water and distribute it the same way. Orange can also get rid of pesky flies and gnats.
Lavender
Lavender can get rid of some of the biggest – and most dangerous – garden pests! Chiggers, fleas, flies, and ticks all hate lavender! While planting lavender is one way to get rid of these pests, what do you do if you don’t have any lavender growing in your yard? Another option is to spray some diluted lavender around your yard to keep these insects away.
Cedarwood
Cedarwood is one of the most powerful weapons against yard pests. Some of the insects it can help you get rid of include ants, beetles, caterpillars, fleas, flies, gnats, mosquitoes, moths, roaches, slugs, snails, ticks, and weevils. Simply spray some diluted cedarwood essential oil in areas where you think these pests may be lurking.
These are just some natural ways to get rid of yard pests! These natural remedies can help keep your yard free of annoying and even dangerous insects.
