5 Ways to Spring into Spring with Picnic Foods

Kids Activities Blog http://ift.tt/2nBiUkJ

Are you as excited about spring as I am? I love spring for so many reasons none bigger than the food! I love fresh food and taking our food outside. So today on Family Food Live, 5 Ways to Spring into Spring with Picnic Foods!

Family Food Live can be seen every Wednesday and Friday at 12 Noon EST/11 am CST on Facebook!  Today I’ll be live on the Burnt Macaroni Facebook page. But make sure you like both the Burnt Macaroni Facebook page and the Quirky Momma Facebook page now so you never miss an episode!

If you missed the last Family Food Live, here’s a look:

Here’s a look at today’s recipes:

Easy Fruit Salad

There is nothing sweeter than an Easy Fruit Salad! This recipe is perfect to start any picnic or outdoor eating event!

Pita Bread Sandwiches

Shopping List:

  • Pita bread
  • Rotisserie Chicken, shredded
  • Avocado, cut into slices
  • Arugula
  • Turkey slices
  • Apples, cut into thin slices
  • Gruyere Cheese, sliced
  • Salt & Pepper to taste

Instructions:

  • Cut the pita bread in half
  • For the first sandwich, fill the pita half with shredded chicken, avocado slices and arugula. Season with salt and pepper
  • For the second sandwich, fill the pita half with turkey slices, cheese, apple slices and arugula. Season with salt and pepper
  • Wrap sandwiches in parchment paper

Strawberry Apple Salad

Another great way to enjoy spring is to make a fresh salad! This Strawberry Apple Salad is one of my favorites. Put it in a mason jar and you can take it along on your picnic.

And if you are looking for a dressing for this salad, you will love this Maple Syrup Dressing!. Just keep it separate from the salad until you are ready to serve.

Banana Cream Cheesecake in a Jar

For dessert, we are going back to our favorite mason jar for this Banana Cream Cheesecake in a Jar! It’s easy and so fresh when outside enjoying a picnic.

Join Family Food Live with Holly & Chris every Wednesday and Friday at Noon CST on either the Quirky Momma Facebook page or the Burnt Macaroni Facebook page!
