Kids of all ages will have fun making a Toilet Roll Leprechaun to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day! This simple craft is perfect for school, home, or daycare.
Easy and Fun Toilet Roll Leprechaun Craft
My kids love to play with toilet roll characters. They stand up easily and are fun to decorate. Since it’s March, we made super fun leprechaun guys. With bendy arms, buttons, and a jolly round face, these little guys are ready for imaginative play. Challenge kids to build them a rainbow tower out of LEGOS or blocks…or draw a scene for them to play in. The possibilities are endless!
To make this craft you will need:
- toilet roll tubes (we used green tubes from the craft store)
- black card stock
- green construction paper
- manilla card stock
- buttons
- wiggly eyes
- colored pencils
- black pen
- white school glue
- scissors
After gathering supplies, cut the black paper into 1 inch strips. Next cut the green paper into 1/2 inch strips. Wrap a black strip around the toilet roll tube to make a belt, then glue in place. Glue a yellow button to the middle of the belt.
Cut the manilla cardstock into a 3 inch circle. Invite kids to draw a face on the circle. We gave our leprechauns hair, a nose, a smile, and a bright orange beard. Next, use the leftover black paper to make little hats for the toilet roll leprechauns. Glue a green button to the middle of each hat.
When the leprechaun’s head is finished, glue it to the toilet roll tube. Fold the green 1/2 inch paper strips like accordions, then glue them to the toilet roll tube. Use scissors to trim excess.
Aren’t they cute! The perfect little kid’s craft for St. Patrick’s Day!
