If you want to get creative in a new way, have fun with it and find a new place to put that piece of paper!
Grab some tape, a piece of paper and markers… lie down on your back and draw!
This has been a blast for us several times now, I can’t believe it took us so long to do this.
We drew upside down and underneath!
We pulled out our dining room chairs and taped a piece of paper to the bottom of it.
We used this awesome 100-pack of markers (affiliate link) that we seem to be using for everything these days. If your markers don’t seem to work for drawing upside down, colored pencils or crayons might work better.
Louis was a little hesitant to get started, so we collaborated together on a piece, drawing under the chair, lying on our backs!
I’d draw a piece in one color, then we’d take turns and he’d lie down and add to my drawing. That part was a lot of fun and really got him interested!

George then joined us and drew a ton of pictures while lying on his back (and feet up in the air)!
We have since done it multiple times as the kids keep requesting it. It’s just much more fun when you’re lying down on the ground. Plus, I think there’s something about it that other people can’t see what you’re drawing, so there’s an element of privacy (and surprise).

I’ve seen many pictures of kids drawing under a table, but we don’t have a table low enough to the ground to do that (even a card table is too tall). So we found our chairs to work well.
If you have an open coffee table, that would be the perfect height for crawling under and drawing upside down. Otherwise get a big ol’ box and lay it on it’s side to do the same thing.
