A Very Good Steak Sandwich Recipe

Kids Activities Blog http://ift.tt/1nMq1ju Steak Sandwich Recipe - Kids Activities Blog

My husband is a really good cook. I am pretty good at cleaning up after him…which is why this works out so well for my family.

When Mezzetta {Kids Activities Blog sponsor} approached me to participate in creating a sandwich recipe, I knew it was the perfect task to hand over to my husband. Mezzetta sent us a box of goodies and he was in heaven! There are several Mezzetta products that he has in a regular Amazon shipment because they are necessities to our everyday life.

Mezzetta is hosting a “Make That Sandwich ” contest with a chance to win $25,000 yes, you read that right! There is $25,000 for the grand prize winner and two runner-up winners will receive $1000! Check out how to enter by creating an original sandwich recipe using the yummy Mezzetta products.

Here is what my house came up with…yum.

Steak Sandwich Recipe

As a true Texan, my husband doesn’t recognize anything but beef as meat. So, it was obvious to him that beef would be involved. This is his very own steak sandwich recipe that is deli-worthy. I would pay good money for one of these.

Ingredients for the Steak Sandwich Recipe –

  • Mezzetta Italian Sandwich Mix

  • Salt

  • Pepper

  • Olive Oil

  • Onion?

  • Mezzetta’s Deli-Sliced Pepper Rings

  • Oregano

  • Mayo – can be spicy flavored

  • Mustard

  • Worcester Sauce

  • Steak

  • Hoagie-style rolls?

  • Mezzetta’s Savory Garlic Spread

  • Provolone Cheese

  • Fresh Spinach

Step 1: Marinate the steak – place 1/3rd the bottle of Mezzetta Italian Sandwich Mix into the blender/food processor and whiz until well blended. Reserve 3 tablespoons of the mixture for sauce and use the rest as marinade.

Add salt, pepper and the blended mix to the steaks and marinate in the fridge for 4 hours.

Step 2: Saute the onions & peppers – Heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a pan. Add 1/2 sliced onion & equal amount of Mezzetta’s Deli-Sliced Pepper Rings. Season with salt, pepper and Oregano while cooking them until the onions turn golden.

Step 3: Make sandwich sauce – Mix together the following ingredients to use as sandwich sauce:

  • 3 Tablespoons of the marinade from step 1

  • 6 Tablespoons of mayo – hot flavored mayo can be used if desired

  • 1 Tablespoon of mustard

  • 1 Teaspoon of Worcester Sauce

Step 4: Cook Steak – Cook the steak stovetop until medium rare. Slice the steak right before making the sandwich.

Step 5: Toast the Hoagie-style roll.

Step 6: Prepare the Sandwich – Open the roll and arrange the sandwich insides in the following manner:

Side one:

  • Spread Mezzetta’s Savory Garlic Spread.

  • Add a slice of Provolone Cheese.

  • Heat in the toaster oven at 375 degrees for 3 minutes until the cheese is melted.

  • Add the onion/pepper ring mixture from step 2 on this side.

Side two:

  • Place steak slices.

  • Add fresh spinach leaves.

  • Add sandwich sauce.

Step 7: Enjoy!

Good luck! Happy sandwich making…

School Supplies are a Big Deal!

Kids Activities Blog http://ift.tt/1z6BiyC School Supply board game - Kids Activities Blog

Oh how I love school supplies!

There just isn’t anything as satisfying as a new sharp pencil, crisp notebook, or unused box of crayons. School supply shopping is an event in my home because my husband shares my love for the event.

Each fall, we load up the kids with lists in hand and head to Target for our annual school supply shopping extravaganza!

So, when Target {Kids Activities Blog sponsor} approached me to spread the news about the Buy One, Give One – I was doubly excited! I jokingly call Target my second home and I adore that the school supplies I buy my kids is helping other kids enjoy the experience of having new supplies.

When you buy one school supply, Target will give one! For each select school supply you buy for back-to-school, Target will give another to the Kids in Need Foundation. Together, we can reach our goal of donating $25 million in school supplies.

That is a lot of sharpened pencils, crisp notebooks, and unused crayon boxes!

School Supplies as Game Pieces

My kids are always in the middle of some sort of project that usually has a bit of competition thrown in – it is just the normal of raising three boys!

Often these projects are some sort of game. I quickly put a stop to the boys raiding our board games for pieces because they seemed to disappear and then we would never have the ability to play Monopoly, Risk or Settlers. I told them they needed to find something else to use for their homemade games.

They soon realized that pencil erasers were very allowance-friendly and they started amassing them as a main ingredient to their game-building process.

I am not sure exactly how you play this game, but if you ask any of my kids, they will know. But I love the imagination and invention that brought them to creating something that is unique to them.

Every little thing is a really big deal!

How You Can Get Involved

Shop for school supplies at Target and Target will automatically donate school supplies to the Kids in Need Foundation.

And if you happen to need 6 packages of pencil erasers for your next game board project, Kids in Need will benefit!

It couldn’t be easier!
