20 Easy Toddler Water Play Ideas

Kids Activities Blog http://ift.tt/1KOWkHa 20 water play ideas toddler

I am always looking for easy toddler water play ideas for our kids.  Water play is a fun way to experiment with science, cool down in the summer heat and just have fun.

Easy Toddler Water Play Ideas:

  • Let them splash in puddles!   There is something so simple and wonderful about doing this.
  • Let them dance in the rain!
  • Paint with water – just give your kids a paintbrush or Cotton  Swap and let them dip it in water and paint a blank chalkboard.    The water will be dark and it will look like they are really painting.
  • Let your toddler play on the pool deck while the older kids are in the pool.  A few simple ‘out of the box’ toys will keep them busy for an hour!
  • Build your own DIY sand and water table.  This will keep your kids busy for so long.  Our kids play with this every single day!   (We usually fill both sides with water and then add a few drops of food coloring to make it a little more exciting!)
  • Grab your water toys and have a splash party in your own back yard!
  • Let them paint the bath tub with colored shaving cream.
  • Fill up the bath tub and watch your kids while they play!   Add bubbles or even make the water glow in the dark!
  • Make a water-wall out of pool noodles.
  • Have a duck race– just like you would do at an amusement park!   Set up water in a container or mini pool (this is ‘your pond’), squirt bottles and little rubber ducks.  See who can “squirt” the ducks across the “pond” the fastest!  via fantasticfunandlearning.com
  • Do a water transfer activity where you take two bowls of water and a medicine dropper.   Transfer the water back and forth.
  • Let them wash their plastic dishes in a tub of water- you don’t need any soap.  Just give them a little scrub brush and let them get to work.  (Note: they will probably get wet!)
  • Drop things in a bucket and see if they sink or float.  (Try making a graph, t00!)
  • Make these Melting ABC’s – the kids will LOVE watching them melt to find the treasure hidden inside.
  • Get out the sprinkler and let them run through it (if weather permits)
  • Have a bike wash in your driveway!
  • Do the walking water experiment where you change set up cups of colored water and let it “walk” from one cup to another via a paper towel!
  • Let them water the flowers!  Our kids LOVE this chore from our chore basket and could do it every day.
