Grilled Ham and Cheese Sandwich is a twist on the traditional grilled cheese. It’s a simple sandwich that everyone loves, and that the kids always devour!
There’s something about an Amazing Grilled Cheese Sandwich that turns your normal weeknight meal into a cozy comfort meal that makes everyone like a kid again!
My kids love grilled cheese, I know that we have it at least once a week if not more. The weekends are huge grilled cheese sandwich days, especially for lunch because they’re so easy and with a bowl of soup, it’s the perfect meal!
I think that this recipe is easy enough that even a little bit older kids are able to pitch in and learn to make them on their own. My 11-year-old guy has mastered the grilled cheese making and is always offering to make us dinner or lunch because he can whip these together in no time flat!
Grilled Ham and Cheese is just as easy because you just add some ham and mayo, but it gives the sandwich a whole new twist!
How to Make Grilled Ham and Cheese
Ingredients You Need
For each sandwich you need:
- 2 Slices of Bread (I use a simple white sandwich bread)
- Butter
- Mayo
- Slice of Cheddar Cheese
- 2 Slices of Deli Ham
Start by buttering one side of each piece of bread. Place one piece of bread butter side down into a hot skillet over medium heat.
Carefully mayo the opposite side of that piece of bread. Add the cheese and meat, then top with the second slice of bread with the butter side away from the meat and cheese, so that when you flip the sandwich the butter side will be on the skillet.
Brown the sandwich for a couple minutes on each side, long enough to get the cheese melty and gooey.
Enjoy!!
One of my other favorite grilled cheese sandwiches is the Mozzarella and Pesto Grilled Cheese, this is a grilled cheese sandwich that’s more of an adult style. It’s amazing with a bowl of Tomato Basil soup.
