Inertia and Spinning Marbles

Kids Activities Blog http://ift.tt/1zKtfMq

What can you learn about inertia and Newton’s First Law of Motion, using just marbles and glue?  A lot!  STEM activities are designed to make kids look at science principles with things they can touch, feel and move.  Our kids love exploring principles of science, technology and math, and today we did just that as we created spinning marbles. STEM activities are a way to learn hands-on the emerging concepts from Science, Technology, Engineering and Math fields to create something.

In today’s activity, spinning marbles, we did just that.  We took the principles that we learned from Sylvan EDGE class and and used them to make and observe spinning marbles.  We watched with our own eyes as something that was still and would always be still, transforms into a spinning whirlwind that without an outside force (gravity or the end of the table) would just keep moving.  We were inspired by Slyvan Learning to make spinning marbles!  We guest posted this STEM activity over there!

Thanks Sylvan Learning for sponsoring our blog and this post.
