Slice the Web Lightsaber Activity

hands on : as we grow http://ift.tt/1Qu6tPm

Do your kids like to destroy things? Do they tend to destruct the moment something gets put together?

Finally! An activity the kids get to do just that.

Swing and slice the web down!

We are so excited to partner with Duracell, Hasbro and Disney. They are teaming up with Toys“R”Us to help us get ready for the holidays. I have a super giveaway you’ll want to get for all the hottest toys, including these Star Wars Lightsabers, this season!

My kids had yet to be introduced to Star Wars (yes, we may live in the dark). But they knew exactly what these Lightsabers were for! They were ready to swing and slice them through the air immediately!

Gift Giving Tip #1: Remove the toy from the box and just set it back in the box before wrapping.

Henry took it upon himself to get them out, he couldn’t stand it any longer!

They were so excited!!

Oh, wait… shoot. They don’t light up Mom?

What? I thought they were supposed to?

Well, yes… they are.

They need batteries first. Hold on!

Gift Giving Tip #2: Be sure to include the right Duracell Batteries with the gift.

Ah! Power Up! Add 3 AAA Duracell batteries and the Lightsaber’s blades glow with light effects. As the kids swing and slice the Lightsaber through the air, there’s motion sensor-controlled sound effects like clashing, battle impact and crackling sounds.

But in order to power up – you need Duracell batteries!

Gift Giving Tip #3: Actually put the batteries in the toy before wrapping.

(Remember, I have an amazing giveaway down below that might just help you take care of that!)

Once I got the Duracell batteries in place, the kids were all excited again.

I couldn’t resist but to set up a fun web activity, much like our sticky spider web. But this is without the stickiness.

This time, we saved R2D2, or maybe it was actually making sure he didn’t fall.

It was a game much like the popular “Don’t Break the Ice” game.

I taped several pieces of crepe paper across a doorway (you could also do this in a hallway).

I chose crepe paper because I wanted it to break when the Lightsabers hit it. Tape would have just stuck to them, and that’s just no good.

While I was creating this web of crepe paper, I printed out a few Star Wars coloring pages for them to color.

I had Henry cut out his R2D2 and he taped it to the web.

Then it was time for the fun!

The kids took turns taking a swinging and slicing their Lightsabers at the web. Slicing the web apart.

Trying hard to not slice the part of the web that held R2D2.

We waited until nighttime to do this too, to make it extra fun because the Lightsabers were glowing!

Of course, this didn’t last long. But the excitement was well worth it!
