Cast Iron S’mores

Kids Activities Blog http://ift.tt/1T7fqO2 Cast Iron Smores a

Wouldn’t you love to enjoy S’mores without having to build a backyard fire? You can with this Cast Iron S’mores recipe. It gives you the joy and comfort of eating this outdoor dessert … inside!

On a recent camping trip with my son’s Cub Scout pack, we enjoyed all the comforts of the outdoors….pitching a tent, building a fire and of course melting marshmallows on a stick. This recipe allows us to enjoy our favorite outdoor treat, indoors — minus the stick!

Cast Iron Smores

You will need the same three ingredients you would use for traditional S’mores.

Ingredients:

  • 16 large Marshmallows, cut in half
  • 1 cup Chocolate Chips
  • Graham Crackers

We pre-heated the oven to 450 degrees, then covered the bottom of the 6-inch Cast Iron Skillet with the chocolate chips.

After cutting the marshmallows in half, I placed the cut side down on top of the chocolate chips.

I put in the oven for about 9 minutes until my marshmallows were brown. I usually like my marshmallows almost burned, but I didn’t want to burn the chocolate so I stopped at this point.

The Cast Iron S’mores will need to cool. But be careful not to let it cool too much. These marshmallows will get hard and stick to the pan if you don’t eat them while they are still a little warm.

Note: Make sure you wash the pan right away. We didn’t and had to scrub marshmallows out of the pan.
