Kids Activities Blog http://ift.tt/201Cgun cough & cold tips for moms featured

It’s not a matter of if, but when our kids will get sick because they all do at some point. As a mom all I want to do it take away the sickness from my boys so they don’t have to deal with it but that’s not the way things work. So instead, I ensure I am always prepared for whatever they come down with. Part of being prepared means I know exactly what I need to do when that cold, cough, or flu strikes. So today we are partnering with our good friends at Boogie Wipes to share 10 Cough & Cold Tips for Moms.

We get that being a mom is tough work but being a mom to sick little one’s is even tougher. We want to help you be the best mom you can be and get your little one’s feeling better faster!

10 Cough & Cold Tips for Moms

  1. Disinfect it all- As our little one’s get sick our first thought is that we hope the rest of the family doesn’t catch the same bug too. Disinfecting everything including bedding, toys, backpacks, even your phones (not too many think of this) can make such a huge difference in who gets what.
  2. Push those fluids- When our kids have the stomach bug we for sure push those liquids so our kids don’t get dehydrated but fluids are just as much important when your kids have a cough or cold. Drinks that contain electrolytes are great choices.
  3. Keep moisture in the air- Humidifiers are great for so many reasons. They help keep your child well all winter long by moisturizing the air they breathe. This is especially important when they are sick. It helps clear up the mucus and allows them to rest better.
  4. Give warm baths– Baths seem to make everything better. Aches and pains typically come along with being sick and soaking in warm baths can certainly help.
  5. Promote good hygiene- We all know that washing our hands helps keep the germs away but when you have multiple children in your home, you have to remind them to do that and remind them not to share their cups and food. I also make sure our toothbrushes are replaced and nothing is shared until everyone is better.
  6. Wipe it all away with Boogie Wipes– Boogie wipes are a natural and effective way to wipe away all those boogies. They are soothing to little noses and since they contain saline, they help bust through the mucus allowing your child some relief.
  7. Unplug from the social life- When our little one’s are sick it’s sometimes hard to truly unplug from the outside world but the best excuse to do that is when our kids are sick and needing our love and comfort. Snuggling up to watch TV or read a good book makes great one on one time when they need it most. Facebook will always be there!
  8. Travel with care- I often travel with a care bag and take it with me where ever we go. I typically include a thermometer, cold medicine, Band-Aids, and of course boogie wipes. It even works to pack it right into your diaper bag or purse so it’s always by your side.
  9. Blast away mucus with a mist- On top of everything else you can do, giving your child a gently spray in their nose can help relive the discomfort of runny and stuffy noses. The Boogie Mist works quite well right along with Boogie Wipes. The mist is a non-medicated saline spray.
  10. When in doubt call the doctor- After many incidents we pretty much become pro at this whole being sick and caring for our loved one’s thing. But it’s okay to call your child’s doctor if you are concerned or need some professional advice about their illness. So many of us feel like we are bothering them by calling but just remember you are doing it because you are a great parent and that is what doctors are for.

Never Be without Boogie Wipes Again

Now that you have these tips under your belt you can ensure your little one’s will be feeling better in no time. I remember the first time I gave Boogie Wipes a try. It had been several days since my youngest had started having a cold. He was miserable and so many things I tried didn’t work. I didn’t want to keep shoveling medication at him so I gave these a try. They truly made a world of difference. In fact, he totally slept the rest of the night after that.

I truly think that once you give them a try you will never want to be without them again. I pack some with me everywhere I go in my son’s diaper bag so I know they are readily available when the time comes.
