Mother’s Day will be here before we know it but before you head out and spend hours shopping for that perfect gift, you will want to check out these adorable Homemade Flower Bath Fizzies. Made with Imperial Sugar (who is also our partner today) along with a few other household items you probably already have at home, these are fun to make. Not to mention, any mom would love to receive these for a spa-like experience at home!
What You Will Need to Make Flower Bath Fizzies:
- 1 cup baking soda
- 1/2 cup citric acid
- 1/4 cup Imperial Sugar Extra Fine Granulated Sugar
- Food coloring (we used the neon colors)
- Witch Hazel in a squirt bottle
- Flower shaped silicone mold
- Fragrance/Essential oil of choice (optional)
- Large bowl
- Spoons
- Plastic cups or bowls (if using multiple colors)

How to Make Flower Bath Fizzies:
- In a large bowl, mix the citric acid, baking soda, and sugar. Using your hands, break apart any clumps so that the mixture is smooth.
- Add your fragrance or essential oil to the mixture and mix well. The mixture may fizz a little but just keep mixing.
- Separate the mixture evenly into the plastic cups. I used 4 different colors so I had a separate cup for each color.
- Add food coloring you would like very slowly to each cup. Mixture will fizz a bit when the liquid is added. Just fold the color into the rest of the mixture with your hands. Mix it up so that it’s evenly dispersed but don’t worry about the color being completely uniform as it will blend well when you add the witch hazel in the next step.
- Fill your spray bottle with witch hazel (a natural astringent). Spray the mixture lightly and slowly while mixing together with your other hand. Keep spraying until you can pack the mixture together with your hands like damp sand. You don’t want to spray too much witch hazel at one time or the mixture will begin the fizzing process.
- Quickly pack mixture into the molds. The harder you pack the mixture into the mold, the better the bath fizzie will hold up. Let them dry for about an hour in the mold then tap the flower shaped bath fizzies out and let them stand (several hours depending on the mold size) until they completely harden.
- Package in cellophane wrap or cute, plastic baggies and tie with ribbon.
- When ready to use, just drop the bath fizzie into the bath water and enjoy! Look at all that fizz!
I do want to mention that if you overpack your mold you may see the bath fizzies start to rise. Don’t panic, you can just continually push the mixture into the molds until they are hard and almost dry before removing.

As I mentioned before, Mother’s Day is going to be here in a few short weeks. What mom wouldn’t love to relax and enjoy some bath fizzies in a hot bubble bath? I know I sure would!
I love that these use sugar because it makes them totally different from many other recipes out there. Sugar is so versatile which is why I always keep a nice big bag around at home!
