This water gun target is so simple, and so much fun for a hot day outside!
While at my parents this past weekend, it was a hot one. And I get my hands on nature from my mom.
The boys wanted to get the water guns out, which we’re all for. My mom set up a quick target practice for them and they had a blast! I shared a video of Louis doing it on Instagram, did you see it?
I decided to do it again the next day at home, because the boys loved it so much (we have these water guns that are so awesome, affiliates links, my mom has the smaller version).
I moved our outdoor table to the edge of the patio and lined up six cans on it.
(Yes, I have a Diet Dew drinking problem that I’m working on.)
I filled up a bucket of water for the boys to load and re-load their water guns.
We have cut lines in our patio, but you could draw a line with sidewalk chalk, to mark where to have the kids stand.
I had George stand a bit back, but still close enough for the water gun to hit the cans.
Louis got to stand closer because he’s younger.
The boys took turns back and forth.
With these water guns, you only get one squirt. So after one shot, they refilled and the other got to shoot.
I sat behind the cans, out of waters way, and re-stacked the cans each time.
More ways to have a water gun target:
You could also make this more difficult, and fill some of the cans to different heights to see if you can knock them over (or have multiple kids shooting at the same can to work together and have more force).
You could also stack the cans in a pyramid and treat it like bowling. Seeing how many they can knock over in just two shots. Can they shoot a strike?
If you don’t have a Diet Dew problem like me and don’t have pop cans, you can set up cut up pool noodles (make them about 5-6 inches long). Or save toilet paper or paper towel rolls to knock over.
