How To Make Fun and Easy DIY Pasta Stamps

Hands On As We Grow http://ift.tt/29I9k5T

Every kid loves pasta and every kid loves to stamp. Wouldn’t it be cool to combine these two things? Today, I’ll show you how to make fun and easy DIY pasta stamps.

If you are like me, you can’t resist oodles of noodles on the grocery store shelves. I bring them home, cook a batch, and then the leftover dry pasta gets buried in the kitchen pantry. Eek! Who knows how long I’ve had these boxes of pasta?

When I decided to clean out my kitchen pantry, I had many mismatched styles of dry pasta. Instead of cooking them, I figured out how to make fun and easy DIY pasta stamps.

Easy and Fun DIY Pasta Stamps

Making pasta stamps is a resourceful way to let kids experiment with gross motor skills, and learn how to build texture on a page. This little project is also a unique way to experiment with printmaking.

To get started, make sure you have these materials on hand (affiliate links included for your convenience):

Stamping tip!

Set a piece of construction paper on top of an old towel.

This will allow the paper to move with any un-level stamps. You will get better marks on the page.

Layer different stamps with different colors.

Look at all the wonderful texture that forms on the page.

Ask your child how the pasta could make these marks.

Once you are done stamping, hang the artwork, frame it, use it for wrapping paper, or save it for any future collage work.

This is a process-based art project that has no rules. Just have fun!
