DIY Galaxy Nightlight

Kids Activities Blog http://bit.ly/2RiWBiF

This post is sponsored by DreamWorks Animation Television.

Kids will love lighting up their bedrooms with this DIY Galaxy Nightlight, inspired by the new series, Tales of Arcadia: 3Below.

DIY Galaxy Nightlight

Tales of Arcadia: 3Below, an adventure comedy that was created by the team behind Trollhunters, is now streaming on Netflix. It features two royal teenage aliens and their bodyguard as they flee a takeover on their home planet. The trio crash lands in Arcadia, the same town where the Netflix series Trollhunters happens!

Coming from the team at DreamWorks Animation, characters Aja, Krel, and Vex must blend in and adapt to the scariest place in Arcadia — high school — while trying to repair their ship so they can go back home to defend their planet.

This fun series is the second chapter in the Tales of Arcadia trilogy from visionary director Guillermo del Toro.

My son and I binged this whole series on Netflix Family during the first few days of holiday break. It was so fun to watch! He really loved the main characters, so we decided to create a DIY Galaxy Nightlight that he could keep in his room to remind him of the show.

Glowing DIY Galaxy Nighlight Jar

How To Make a DIY Galaxy Nightlight

Here’s what you need to make a DIY Galaxy Nightlight:

  • Glass mason jar
  • Stained glass spray paint (we used blue and purple)
  • Glitter blast spray paint (we used purple)
  • Battery-operated LED light string
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • Scissors
  • 3Below Character Printable

Print our 3Below Character printable in color and cut around the edges. Set aside.

Lightly spray the glass jar with the stained glass spray paint. We mixed the blue and purple colors to create a pretty galaxy effect. Allow to dry and add other coats of stained glass paint until you are happy with the colors.

Once the stained glass paint has dried, add a coat of glitter blast spray paint. You don’t want to coat the whole jar, but add the paint sporadically around the jar to add to your galaxy effect. Allow to dry fully.

Painting a DIY Galaxy Nightlight

Use the hot glue gun to attach the printable character image to the front of the jar.

Add the string of LED lights to the inside of the jar and close with the lid. Now your DIY Galaxy Nightlight is ready to light up your room with the heroes of 3Below!
