Create a beautiful, colorful garden painting - even in the dead of winter - with fun, easy fork painting for kids from Member of the Month, Amber!
Busy nurse Amber simply wasn’t doing hands-on activities. Instead, she and her five-year-old daughter turned to a quick fix solution.
“Most of the time, you know, with my daughter, we’d do the iPad and watch TV shows,” Amber explains. “That’s why I reached out!“
Amber found one of The Activity Room® Challenges – and loved the experience of our supportive, encouraging community!
You can join the Hands On As We Grow Challenge, too!
“I joined a Challenge and it started there,” she shares. “I didn’t join after that Challenge and I really regretted it.”
“So the next time it came around, I made sure I joined (The Activity Room).”
But starting the hands-on parenting journey wasn’t easy for Amber.
“It was a little overwhelming, but I was excited to have that resource,” she says. “I was surprised by the support of the other ROOM members.”
Even with the monthly activity plans, getting into her hands-on groove was tough.
“(My biggest struggle was) figuring out when to make time and trying to make it something that became a routine.”
Having the support of other ROOM members helped Amber find her rhythm and create a routine that worked for her.
“I’ve never been in a group that’s so positive and supportive of other members.”
Learn how to overcome your own biggest hurdles to being hands-on!
Amber loves having screen-free time with her daughter to bond and build memories over shared activities!
“She’s really big into pretend play and that’s really hard for me,” Amber says. “Having the activities is a way we can connect and bond over that. It makes it easier.”
Amber loves having easy hands-on activities right at her fingertips!
“It’s really stuff that I couldn’t come up with,” shares Amber. “It’s really simple, but that’s why I pay for this. I didn’t know what to do!”
Now, Amber and her daughter eagerly anticipate their daily hands-on activity!
“My daughter comes home every day, ‘What’s the activity for today?'”
Plus, Amber’s really leveled up her Mom cred and confidence!
“It makes me feel like a better Mom!”

Simple & Quick Winter Garden Fork Painting
We painted flowers using forks. Dip the fork into the paint and stamp it on the paper.
To make your own garden with painting forks, you’ll need:
- Forks
- Washable Paint
- Paintbrushes
We used paintbrushes and Q-tips to paint stems. My daughter added leaves.
This fork painting activity was so easy and simple! It took literally zero time to set up, but my daughter enjoyed creating for a long time.
I loved creating a pretty spring garden, even though we’re still in the middle of winter!
