It’s no secret kids love to get messy and sticky. Sometimes we just have to encourage it just as long as it’s supervised. Slime is a great example of a way to keep the kids busy for hours and allow them to get a little messy. With so many slime recipes out there, where do you begin? We are here to help because today we are partnering with Imperial Sugar to share this Edible Valentine’s Slime recipe with you.
Kids can play with it and when it’s all said and done, eat it if they choose to! Parenting just got a whole lot easier!
What You will Need to Make Edible Valentine’s Slime:
- 1 Tablespoon Cornstarch
- 14 ounce Can of Sweetened Condensed Milk
- 2 Tablespoons Imperial Sugar Extra Fine Granulated Sugar
- Red Food Coloring
- Conversation Heart Candies or Valentine Sprinkles (optional)
This recipe is adapted from Imperial Sugar.
How to Make Edible Valentine’s Slime:
- Place the condensed milk, sugar and cornstarch into the sauce pan. Mix until well blended.
- Place the pan over med-high heat, stirring until mixture thickens. Note: you want to be careful not to burn the mixture. If your stove tends to heat up quickly, heat on low-medium heat.
- Mix in approximately 5-6 drops of food coloring (you can add more to make the color darker). We chose red just in time for Valentine’s Day!
- Let mixture cool down completely before giving it to your child. You can even place it into the refrigerator until cooled.
- Once cooled, add the conversation heart candies or sprinkles and stir well.
- Allow your kids to have some ooey, gooey fun! You can store leftovers in a resealable plastic bag or container in the refrigerator. Make sure to use within 5 days as the slime will begin to harden in the refrigerator.
Note: It is best to play with Edible Slime away from carpet and upholstered furniture. The food coloring may cause stains.
And that’s it! You will then have some fun (and delicious) slime to play with!
Sugar is so versatile!
Sugar is an item I always keep in my home. Not only do I love to bake, but I also love to craft. Whether it’s crafting something with my boys on a cold winter day, or creating a fun DIY gift for friends and family, sugar is always my friend.
