I used our favorite playdough recipe with a new twist that makes it perfect for bedtime! I love using essential oils to help my little ones wind down at the end of the day, and this is a fun way to do just that.
Playing with playdough is an activity that occupies my kids in a relaxing way because they are sitting still and concentrating. Adding in an essential oil that helps them unwind makes this the most perfect before bedtime activity.
Unwinding Playdough Recipe
I halved our normal recipe because I wanted a smaller amount than normal. Plus, I was running low on salt!
- 1 Cup of Flour
- 1 Tbsp of Vegetable Oil (or whatever oil you have on hand)
- 1/4 Cup of Salt
- 1 Tbsp Cream of Tartar
- 1/2 Cup Hot Water (really hot)
Mix all the dry ingredients together and then add in the oil and water. Stir it up and then use your hands on squish it all together and let it cool completely.
Then, I added in just a little bit of purple coloring to make a nice lavender shade. And finally, the Epoch Unwind essential oil.
Unwind is a blend of lavender, bergamot and several other oils that smells amazing and helps you to relax. We’ve used this in our bath melts, and our DIY pillow spray. It is one of my favorite oils ever!
