Ever need a “mom” moment? Doesn’t it sound lovely to grab a cup of tea, sit in a comfy chair, and dive into a good book?
I love reading too, but it’s hard to find the time when kiddos are around, and there are tasks to complete and meals to make.
Still, I’ve found a way in my life to enjoy a good book while being productive with my daily schedule. We’re lucky to have that resource as a sponsor for the helpful tips in this article, to help YOU get some soul searching done, explore new parenting strategies, or just plain zone out to a great fiction novel.
It’s my secret called Audible (ok… not so secret).
If you’re not familiar with it already, Audible is a seller and producer of spoken audio entertainment, information, and educational programming. It sells digital audiobooks, radio, and T.V. programs, and audio versions of magazines and newspapers. It’s a one-stop shop for all things information and it’s easily accessed on any smart device.

Audible provides us with a great tool to be hands-on with our kiddos through fun and educational audio books for kids, but it is also a great resource for moms as well.
We may not always have the opportunity to sit down and enjoy a good book, but we can listen to them while on-the-move.
Here are five ways that you can work in a good audiobook (or two) to your busy schedule:
Cooking Dinner
While you’re cooking a delicious dinner; grab your tablet, turn up the volume, and choose the latest newspaper to catch-up on some current events.
Waiting in the Car
Have to wait in that long school pick-up line? Well, that wasted time now turns into some “mom” time when listening to a how-to book on a skill you’re hoping to learn.
Folding Laundry
Have laundry to do? Put in your headphones, pull up the Audible app on your smartphone, and listen to that new book you’ve been waiting to read.
House Cleaning
Cleaning the house can be dreadful, but not with a good audiobook in your ear. Put in those headphones, press play, and let the cleaning begin.
Washing Dishes
Are those dishes piling up? Stay motivated and energized with a good audiobook or magazine.
My favorite thing? When the kids start screaming in the next room (for the third time), I don’t need a bookmark to mark my place while I turn on mom mode. Audible will saves where I stopped and also syncs across all of my devices.
And it’s great for working away from home too…
My husband (like many hard working dads) has to commute through endless traffic for work each day.
To keep his sanity and help pass the time, he began using Audible in 2012 (yep, it’s been around for awhile; actually since 1995).
He has since listened to 104 books and isn’t stopping anytime soon!
Audible is a great resource for your kiddos, dads, and for us busy, hands-on moms to make every day reading a part of your family.
