Interactive Books about Seasons for Kids
Tap the Magic Tree by Christie Matheson (ages 3-7)
Children will enjoy tapping their way through the seasons in this book.
Tap the Magic Tree begins with a lone bare tree that needs some help.
Will you be able to tap, count, jiggle, wiggle, and shake the pages to help the apple tree transform?
Questions to consider about seasons for kids while reading include:
What seasons are being shown by the tree?
How do you know that is the season?
Hungry Bunny by Claudia Rueda (ages 3-6)
Hungry Bunny isn’t necessarily about seasons, but it does show apples – perfect for a discussion with your kids about fall!
It’s also perfect to read right after reading Tap the Magic Tree, which shows an apple tree progressing through the seasons.
Children can help a hungry bunny get some apples! By shaking the book, blowing away some leaves, and stretching a ribbon in place for him to climb.
Then, they must help the hungry bunny get home by tilting, rocking, and turning the book.
Can they get him and the apples home in time for his mom to make apple pie?
This book should come with a ribbon for kids to use on some of the pages while you lean about the season.
You can use any string, ribbon, or yarn in place of the ribbon.
Keep this in mind if you end up with a copy that is missing the ribbon (like the library book I borrowed).
Bunny Slopes by Claudia Rueda (ages 3-6)
What season comes right after fall? Winter, of course!
This book is a perfect follow-up to Hungry Bunny.
Even though Bunny Slopes isn’t necessarily about seasons, it is about snow and skiing – great for a discussion on winter with your kids.
Children can help bunny go skiing in this book by shaking, tilting, tapping, and turning the pages.
It ends with a nice warm treat for bunny and the reader.
