15 Awesome Audio Books for Kids This Summer

Hands On As We Grow http://ift.tt/28KDMf0

Are you committed to reading with your kids this summer?

My kids are 5.5 and 7.5, and it’s difficult for them to read on their own. As they get older, it’s harder for me to read aloud, especially long chapter books. Many when I read aloud, they fight, bicker, or I have 150 lbs laying on me (Yes, I have big kids!). It has been a struggle get my kids to quietly engage in reading for longer than five minutes?

I recently discovered Audible (who is sponsoring this post), an amazing service, that provides an unmatched selection of downloadable audio books for kids and adults. Since I am already a huge Amazon fan, trying Audible felt super easy. To get started you can download Audible for a Free Trial for 30 Days. After the free trial, becoming an Audible Member is simple. Audible has some wonderful titles in a large variety of genres. There are many amazing titles narrated by some stellar A-list voices such as Dustin Hoffman, Claire Danes, Anne Hathaway, Kate Winslet, Colin Firth, and many more.

Audible has been an incredible resource for our family. I have downloaded the Audible App so listening to our favorite audio books, like Alice in Wonderland, is so easy. We can listen on any of our devices, in the car, with headphones, or through a Bluetooth speaker.

Since each of my children have their own iPads, they can listen to their own audio books without fighting. The best part is that they can be engaged while working on another activity, such as drawing, play dough, or petting the dog.

One of our favorite audio books is Lewis Carroll’s classic tale, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, narrated by Scarlett Johansson.  We recently listened to this audio book, before we went to see the new film, Alice Through the Looking Glass.

Both kids were completely entranced with Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. This production weaved a beautiful music score, as Scarlett Johansson’s soothing voice guided them through Alice’s magical journey.

Since we are traveling abroad this summer, I plan on incorporating Audible on our long flight. My hope is that the kids will be engaged and get along! My kids and I compiled a list of our favorite audio books for children. Below are some of our favorite books that we plan on listening to this summer.

Audible is an amazing resource, whether you are traveling, hanging out at home, or need a break from reading aloud to your kids.
