Random spaghetti art with kids is a super fun and easy project to try (especially if you have a sensory seeking child.)
Everyone has that old box of spaghetti in the back of the pantry. With a little bit of color and randomness, dry spaghetti can turn into really cool works of art.
How to dye dry pasta:
The first step is to dye spaghetti with Mc Cormick’s Neon Food Coloring, Rubbing Alcohol, and a Gallon Size Ziploc Bag, or any random plastic bag (affiliate links for your convenience).
Fill the plastic bag with a batch of spaghetti, add 5-6 drops of any neon food coloring, add 1 tsp. rubbing alcohol, then rub together until the color sticks to all of the spaghetti.
Lay the colored spaghetti out on a paper towel to dry.
Next, proceed to color another batch with your favorite color. Continue until you have colored various batches of spaghetti.
Please note that this is the same method used to also dye dry rice or any dry pasta.
How To Make Random Spaghetti Art
Materials
- dyed spaghetti (see instructions above)
- a small outdoor table or a big piece of white poster board
Take a batch of spaghetti, and drop it on a surface. The spaghetti will land randomly on the surface and this will be art.
Your child can pick up the spaghetti again and make another random piece of art.
Add A Twist
If you want to make this random piece permanent, spread school glue on a piece of foam core or poster board. Then have your child randomly drop the pieces again on the glue. Let the piece dry, and now you have a new piece of artwork to hang on the wall.
The goal of this project to is let loose and not plan what the artwork will look like. Kids love making accidents happen and this is all part of the artistic process. Try making random spaghetti art with your kids. They won’t be disappointed!
