Dinosaur Dig Sensory Bin

Kids Activities Blog http://ift.tt/2xD2AkM

Sensory bins are such a fun way for children to explore and learn. If you have a budding paleontologist in the family, this dinosaur dig sensory bin is perfect!

Kids can pretend to be a scientist as they uncover the pieces of this sensory bin, gently brushing away the dirt to uncover dinosaur and mammal bones.

When I saw a similar bin on Hello Creative Family, I knew that this would be perfect for my son. He is obsessed with dinosaurs and had so much fun with this activity!

Here’s what you need to make this Dinosaur Dig Sensory Bin:

In your plastic bin, mix together the sand, plaster of paris, and water. The sand will become crumbly and gritty — it’s perfect for burying your treasures!

We used these Prehistoric Mammal Skulls toys to bury in our sensory bin. You could also add some Dinosaur Skulls and Ancient Fossils.

Press the toys into the sand and lightly cover them up. You want them to be pretty shallow in the bin so that your child can unearth them using the paint brush.

Let the bin sit overnight to allow the sand to dry completely, then it’s time for excavation!

My kiddo had so much fun with this sensory bin! I love that it’s reusable — just move the sand back into place, and the bones are ready to be uncovered again! We added a lid to ours so that we could pull it out and play again whenever we wanted!
