This adorable Popsicle Stick Mosaic Sun Craft is a fun activity for kids. You can set out the supplies and let them create on their own, strengthening hand-eye coordination by building with the sticks.
Popsicle stick crafts are awesome because the sky is really the limit when it comes to creating. Kids can build practically anything with wooden craft sticks!
Popsicle Stick Mosaic Sun Craft
Here’s what you need to make this popsicle stick mosaic sun craft:
- 12 popsicle sticks
- yellow craft paint
- paint brush
- wax paper
- colored tissue paper
- glue
- scissors
- yarn for hanging
Paint the popsicle sticks yellow first and allow them time to dry. You can skip this step by using colored popsicle sticks if you have them.
Arrange the sticks into a “circle” which will actually be more like a hexagon since the sticks can not bend! Glue them together.
Add another stick on the middle of each of the sticks already glued together (the “rays” of the sun)
Cut a circle from the wax paper that will fit over the opening of your sun (the hexagon). Cover the wax paper circle with glue.
Rip various sizes, shapes and colors of tissue paper and stick to the wax paper circle.
Glue the wax paper circle onto the back of the sun.
Tie yarn around of the sticks to hang!
